Cabbage Beef Bake
Ingredients:
1 lb ground beef
1 small head of cabbage, chopped
1 cup cooked rice (white or brown)
1 can (15 oz) diced tomatoes (with juice)
1 can (8 oz) tomato sauce
1 onion, chopped
2 cloves garlic, minced
1 tsp salt
1/2 tsp black pepper
1 tsp Italian seasoning (or oregano)
1 cup shredded cheese (cheddar or mozzarella, optional)
1 tbsp olive oil
Instructions:
Preheat the Oven:
Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
Cook the Beef:
In a large skillet over medium heat, heat the olive oil. Add the chopped onion and garlic, and sauté until softened, about 3-4 minutes.
Add the ground beef to the skillet and cook until browned. Drain any excess fat.
Mix the Ingredients:
In a large bowl, combine the cooked ground beef mixture, chopped cabbage, cooked rice, diced tomatoes, tomato sauce, salt, pepper, and Italian seasoning. Mix until everything is well combined.
Transfer to Baking Dish:
Transfer the mixture to a greased 9×13-inch baking dish and spread it out evenly.
Add Cheese (Optional):
If desired, sprinkle the shredded cheese on top of the cabbage beef mixture.
Bake:
Cover the dish with aluminum foil and bake for 30 minutes. Then remove the foil and bake for an additional 15-20 minutes, or until the cabbage is tender and the cheese is melted and bubbly.
Serve:
