Mini Air Fryer Blooming Onions

Looking for a fun and crispy appetizer to share with family or friends? These Mini Air Fryer Blooming Onions are a bite-sized twist on the classic, made effortlessly in the air fryer! Golden, crunchy, and perfectly seasoned, they’re a crowd-pleaser for any gathering. Plus, they’re healthier than the fried version but just as delicious!

Ingredients:

4 small onions
1 cup all-purpose flour
1 teaspoon paprika
1 teaspoon garlic powder
1 teaspoon salt
½ teaspoon black pepper
2 large eggs
1 cup buttermilk
1 cup breadcrumbs
Cooking spray

Instructions:
Prepare the onions:
Peel the onions and trim off the top. Make slices from the top down to create “petals,” but leave the root intact to hold the onion together.
Mix the flour coating:
In a bowl, combine the flour, paprika, garlic powder, salt, and black pepper.
Prepare the egg wash:
In a separate bowl, whisk together the eggs and buttermilk.
Coat the onions:
Dip each onion into the flour mixture, ensuring all the petals are coated. Then, dip the onion into the egg mixture and coat it thoroughly with breadcrumbs.
Air fry the onions:
Preheat your air fryer to 375°F (190°C). Spray the onions generously with cooking spray and place them in the air fryer basket. Cook for 15-20 minutes, or until the onions are crispy and golden brown.
Serve:
Serve these mini blooming onions with your favorite dipping sauce and enjoy the delicious crunch!
