Ingredients:
- 1 cup unsalted butter
- 1 cup brown sugar, packed
- 1/4 cup heavy cream
- 1 tsp vanilla extract
- 1/2 tsp sea salt
- 1 1/2 cups semi-sweet chocolate chips
- Extra sea salt for sprinkling
Instructions:
- Prep the Pan: Line an 8×8 inch baking pan with parchment paper for easy removal.
- Make the Toffee: In a medium saucepan, melt the butter over medium heat. Add brown sugar and heavy cream. Stir constantly until the sugar is dissolved and the mixture comes to a boil. Let it simmer for 5-7 minutes until it thickens.
- Add the Vanilla: Remove the pan from the heat and stir in vanilla extract and 1/2 tsp of sea salt.
- Pour the Toffee: Pour the toffee mixture into the prepared pan and spread it out evenly.
- Top with Chocolate: Immediately sprinkle chocolate chips over the hot toffee. Let them sit for a few minutes until they melt, then spread the chocolate into an even layer.
- Add Sea Salt: Sprinkle a pinch of sea salt on top for that perfect balance of sweet and salty.
- Chill: Refrigerate for at least 2 hours, or until the toffee is firm. Cut into squares and enjoy!
