Apple-Cranberry Crumble

Ingredients:
For the filling:

3 medium apples, peeled, cored, and sliced
1 cup fresh or frozen cranberries
¼ cup granulated sugar
2 tablespoons brown sugar
1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
½ teaspoon ground nutmeg
1 tablespoon lemon juice
1 tablespoon all-purpose flour (for thickening)

For the crumble topping:

¾ cup all-purpose flour
½ cup rolled oats
½ cup brown sugar, packed
½ teaspoon ground cinnamon
¼ teaspoon ground ginger (optional)
½ cup unsalted butter, melted

Instructions:
Preheat the oven:
Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and lightly grease an 8×8-inch baking dish or several ramekins if making individual servings.

Prepare the filling:
In a large bowl, toss the apple slices and cranberries with the granulated sugar, brown sugar, cinnamon, nutmeg, lemon juice, and flour. Ensure the fruits are evenly coated. Spread the mixture evenly into the prepared baking dish (or ramekins).

Make the crumble topping:
In a medium bowl, whisk together the flour, oats, brown sugar, cinnamon, and ginger (if using). Stir in the melted butter until the mixture becomes crumbly and evenly moistened.

Assemble the crumble:
Sprinkle the crumble topping evenly over the apple-cranberry filling, making sure to cover the fruit completely.

Bake:
Bake in the preheated oven for 35-40 minutes (or 25-30 minutes if using ramekins), or until the topping is golden brown and the fruit is bubbly.

Serve:
Let the crumble cool for a few minutes before serving. It’s delicious on its own, but even better with a scoop of vanilla ice cream or a dollop of whipped cream.

Enjoy!
