Why Buy Garlic? Grow Your Own at Home with Ease!
Method 1: Water Germination
- Select a healthy garlic bulb and peel off the outer layers while keeping the cloves attached to the base.
- Place the bulb in a shallow water container so only the base touches the water. Keep it in indirect light and change the water regularly.
- After about two weeks when roots and shoots appear transplant it to a pot with well-draining soil in a sunny spot.
Method 2: Direct Planting
- Choose the largest cloves from a garlic bulb.
- Plant them individually in a sunny location in well-draining soil spaced well apart. Water well initially. Continue to ensure the soil stays moist but not soggy.
Comparison and Tips :
- Water germination allows you to see roots quickly but requires changing the water to avoid rot. – Direct planting is straightforward: just plant water and wait.
- Both methods need sunlight and well-draining soil.
