Triple Layer Chocolate Cake
Ingredients
Cake:
2 cups all-purpose flour
2 cups granulated sugar
3/4 cup unsweetened cocoa powder
2 teaspoons baking soda
1 teaspoon baking powder
1 teaspoon salt
1 cup buttermilk
1/2 cup vegetable oil
2 large eggs
2 teaspoons vanilla extract
1 cup hot water
Chocolate Frosting:
1 cup butter, softened
3/4 cup unsweetened cocoa powder
4 cups powdered sugar
1/2 cup milk
2 teaspoons vanilla extract
Directions
Prep the Oven and Pans:
Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease and flour three 9-inch round cake pans.
Make the Batter:
In a large bowl, mix flour, sugar, cocoa powder, baking soda, baking powder, and salt.
Add buttermilk, oil, eggs, and vanilla. Beat until smooth.
Gradually add hot water, mixing until the batter is well combined.
Bake the Cakes:
Divide batter evenly among the prepared pans.
Bake for 30-35 minutes or until a toothpick comes out clean.
Cool in pans for 10 minutes, then transfer to a wire rack to cool completely.
Prepare the Frosting:
Beat butter until creamy. Gradually add cocoa, powdered sugar, milk, and vanilla, beating until smooth and spreadable.
Assemble the Cake:
Once cakes are fully cooled, spread frosting between layers, over the top, and around the sides.

Tips:
